Joey Rioux was named a Golden Dozen Scholar Award winner last week by the National Football Foundation. This Distinct Honor is just the tenth time a Mt. Hope Gridiron member has received the award since its founding in 1993. While a few recent award winners have served on the Silver Dozen Team of Recipients, Joey is the first to be honored since Nicholas Murgo in 2014. The Rhode Island Chapter honors those boys who have excelled not only on the football field but in the classroom as well. In the past 26 years they have honored over 500 scholar-athlete football players. Joey is now amongst them, he will attend Community College in the fall.
