The Mt Hope Huskies Boys hockey team squared off against Woonsocket/Scituate Friday night at Adelard Arena in Woonsocket. Trailing 1-0 after one period, Junior Ryan Cordeiro forwards the puck to Sophomore Cam Rancourt coming over the blueline. Junior Jack Dolan takes off for the net and Rancourt sends a pass his way. Dolan deflects the puck into the net and the score is tied at one. Late in the second period, the Huskies go on the power play. Sophomore Keegan Hanley get the puck on the blue line and fires the cannon. Cordeiro battles in front of the net and bangs home the rebound as the Huskies take a 2-1 lead into the third period. In a third period marred by penalties on both sides, the action was up and down as both teams were denied scoring opportunities by solid goaltending. Senior goaltender Kyle Depoy was rock solid between the pipes for the Huskies making 25 saves. Mid third period, another scrum in front of the Woonsocket/Scituate net, Cordeiro out works the pile, and is able to score the insurance goal for a 3-1 Huskies lead. That's how it would end as the Huskies grind out a 3-1 win in Woonsocket. GO Huskies!
