Boys Hockey scores 6 on way to victory

The Mt Hope Huskies Boys hockey team played the Narragansett/Chariho Co-op Saturday night at Thayer Arena in Warwick. The Huskies get started early as Sophomore Defenseman Keegan Hanley carries the puck through the neutral zone and gains the blue line. Hanley uncorks a blast that goes top corner to give the Huskies an early 1-0 lead. Junior Ryan Cordeiro follows up with some tenacious forechecking in the offensive zone and around the net. Senior Austin Hogan and Junior Devin Lannan move the puck to Cordeiro who shoots and scores to take a 2-0 lead. Now shorthanded, Cordeiro scores unassisted off an offensive zone faceoff and the Huskies take a 3-1 lead into the second period. In the second period, Cordeiro drops the puck off to Hogan on the blue line. Hogan unleashes a laser that sails into the back of th net. Later in the period, Junior Quinn Baldwin-Kress makes a pretty pass to Junior Kyrik Cordeiro whose twisted wrister finds nothing but net. Huskies up 5-1 after two. In the third period, Sophomore Cam Rancourt passes the puck to Senior Zack Francis who buries it for a 6-1 Final score. Between the pipes, Senior goaltender Kyle Depoy makes 21 saves in backstopping his team to a W.
