Boys Hockey Seniors' finish at home with a Win

The Mt Hope Huskies Boys hockey team played a pair of games over the weekend. First up was a trip to URI on Friday night and a match-up vs the Narragansett/Chariho Co-op team. The Huskies opened up with a five goal first period and never looked back. Junior Jack Dolan scored a natural hat trick in the first period, and finished up with a five goal night as the Huskies won 8-4. Also scoring for the Huskies were Seniors Austin Hogan & Zack Francis, and Junior Ryan Cordeiro. Adding assists for the Huskies were Juniors Kyrik Cordeiro, Dylan Andrade, James Morreira, Ryan Cordeiro and Sophomore Cam Rancourt. Senior Goaltender Kyle Depoy made 17 saves in the victory for the Huskies. On Sunday at the Portsmouth Abbey it was Senior Night for the Mt Hope Huskies as they took on the Johnston/North Providence Co-op. The Huskies honored their four Seniors whose contributions to the team have been plentiful. Seniors Kyle Depoy, Austin Hogan, Nic Fowler & Zack Francis were recognized before the game. The puck dropped and the Huskies came out firing in establishing a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period, and a 5-2 lead after two periods.  Junior Jack Dolan scored a hat trick and Junior Ryan Cordeiro and Sophomore Cam Rancourt each added another for the three goal lead. Contributing important assists were Juniors Kyrik Cordeiro and Quinn Baldwin-Kress. In the third period, the Huskies take a few penalties and give the JNP squad some life. Senior Goaltender Kyle Depoy comes up huge making a total of 28 saves in the victory, and helps thwart the JNP attack in the mostly short-handed third period. Senior defensemen Austin Hogan and Nic Fowler combine for a goal in the third period as Fowler hammers home a goal in front of the JNP net. Hogan and Fowler were also both stalwarts on the blue line for the Huskies. Junior Ryan Cordeiro added an unassisted third period goal and was a major defensive presence for the Huskies through out the game in the 7-3 victory. Huskies Hockey finishes up the regular season with three games next weekend. BE THERE. GET LOUD. GO Huskies!
