Boys Lacrosse Wins Thriller 12-11/ Will Host Playoff Match-up

It was the final game of the regular season for the Mt Hope Huskies Boys Lacrosse team as they took on South Kingstown with the winner earning the right to host the first round playoff matchup later this week between the same two teams. It was also Senior Night for the Huskies. Six Seniors were recognized for their contributions to the Boys Lacrosse Team: Austin Hogan, Logan Allen, Bailey Taft, Caleb Dorgan, Marcus Rodrigues & Joseph Rioux were all honored. Congratulations boys.  

The game was a wild affair with back and forth exciting, offensive action on both ends of the field in a fast and physical contest. Going into the half, the Huskies built a 6-4 lead but this game was far from over. After SK ties the score early in the 4th quarter 8-8, the Huskies respond with three unanswered and take an 11-8 lead. Still not over, both teams exchange goals and Mt Hope has a 12-11 lead with :12 seconds left. SK gains possession and attacks into the offensive zone but Mt Hope hangs on and finishes with a 12-11 win.

Multiple contributors on the offensive side of the field for the Huskies. Junior Max Moskala netted a hat-trick, including the eventual game winner for the Huskies. Senior Caleb Dorgan and Sophomore Keegan Hanley each contributed two goals and two assists. Juniors Jeremy & Stephen Serbst each added two goals and one assist, while Junior Jack Dolan scored a goal and added two assists.

On the defensive side of the ball, Seniors Austin Hogan, Bailey Taft & Logan Allen played a tough, hard fought game in their own end. Also contributing defensively were Juniors Travis Waleryszak, Antoine Mouligne & Zach Burke. Sophomore Goalkeeper Cam Rancourt made 10 saves in helping preserve the victory. Faceoff specialist Marcus Rodrigues was a force for the Huskies all game long. 

The Huskies will host a first round playoff match-up this Friday at Guiteras Field at 4pm. All Mt Hope students and families are invited to attend to support the Huskies team. BE THERE! GET LOUD!
