Wet. Rainy. Muddy. Slippery. Time for Playoff Lacrosse at Guiteras Field in Bristol as the Mt Hope Huskies Boys Lacrosse Team hosted South Kingstown in the Quarter Finals. In addition to battling each other for the second time in three days, both teams would have to battle the elements in what was some tough weather conditions on the field. Time to get wet.
In the first half, the Huskies pour it on early and take a quick 2-0 lead. SK battles back and takes a 6-5 lead into half-time. After SK comes out and increases the lead up to 9-6 in the 3rd Quarter, it's gut-check time for the Huskies. Pack it in and go home, or fight to the finish. They respond with an offensive outburst and reclaim the lead. Up 11-9 with 7 minutes remaining in the game, it's a wild, back and forth game with each teams having opportunities on both ends of the field.
SK climbs back into it and ties the game with just over two minutes remaining. Tie Score. 11-11. A huge faceoff for ball possession. A scrum ensues and as possession quickly goes back and forth, SK comes up with the ball in their own end. A game defining moment as the Huskies force SK out of bounds in their own end and the Huskies take over possession. The Huskies take a time out with just over a minute remaining. As play re-starts, the Huskies take the ball behind the SK net, gain position and bury it for the 12-11 lead. Hearts pounding the rest of the way as the Huskies are able to once again re-gain possession and burn the remaining time for the victory. Congratulations to both teams for a well-played and hard-fought match-up with both teams leaving it all out on the rain-soaked field.
