After making it out of the Division II Girls Tennis Qualifying Tournament on October 8, Morgan Kane & Brianna Wanamaker (seeded B-3 in tournament draw) scored a win in their first match of the RI Girls Tennis Main Draw for Doubles advancing from the Round of 16 to the Round of 8 with their upset win over Barrington High School's #1 Doubles team of Abigail Walter & Jillian Walter (seeded A-4 in tournament draw).
An abnormally windy day at Slater Park in Pawtucket, RI proved beneficial in the end to the doubles team of Kane & Wanamaker as they breezed to a three set 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 thrilling win over the Barrington #1 doubles team who was seeded fourth out of the eight Division I doubles teams in the draw after winning their matches in the D. I qualifying tournament and going 8-7 on the season in Division I play. Kane & Wanamaker reached the state tournament after defeating their teammates, Mt. Hope #2 Doubles team of Jillian Parker and Ellie Knapman in three sets at the D. II Qualifying Tournament and going 7-5 in Division II play on the season.
Next up for Kane & Wanamaker is the Round of 8 on Sunday, October 30 at 11:30am at Slater Park where they will take on Moses Brown's #1 doubles team of Abby Munsolillo and Lucy Strickler (seeded A-7 in tournament draw) who defeated North Providence's #1 doubles team (seeded C-1 in tournament draw) on Sunday 6-0, 6-1.
