First Unified Basketball game of the season against Portsmouth -
Final Score Mt Hope 46 - Portsmouth 42
It was a great game! I must say our young lady partners played a terrific game seeing as both of our male partners couldn't make the game.
It was nip and tuck as Portsmouth went out on a 12 to 2 lead five minutes into the game. I made a couple of substitutions and things turned around for the Huskies. At half time the score was 24 to 23 with Portsmouth in the lead.
I had a little pep talk with the team and told them they needed to go out and have a little more fun!
Second half started and we went up by 4 points and kept the lead the rest of the game. Halfway through the second half, Portsmouth pulled within two points, but Sam Ward hit a big shot for us to go ahead by 4 again. It stayed that way until the buzzer ended the game.
Ben Teves played a great defensive game, having two big steals!

The second game was against the Tigers from Tiverton. It was a well played game for both teams. Our partners played very well, the way all partners should, and so did the Tiger partners. The final score was no indication of the way the game was played.
On several occasions, the Tiverton team played a 6th man on court to help three of their athletes become involved in the game. The Mt Hope partners would take the rebounds when the Tiverton athletes missed the basket and would gave it back to let them try and score again. It was a heart warming thing to see when they scored. Our team and fans applauded
each time.
Our offense was on fire! You could see smoke trailing the ball as it went in the basket!! Everyone scored Thursday!
Leading scores for the Huskies were: Mt Hope 59 - Tiverton 33
Nick Fartura with 23 points - he made a big three pointer also!
Mylan Jackson with 20 points
Pat Fraime with 6 points
Mike Mederios with 6 points
Sammy Ward with 4 points
At half time our team and the fans joined in singing Happy Birthday to Mylan. During the game we had an ESPN moment - One of the players from Tiverton took a shot and it got stuck on top of the backboard. After a couple of tries to get it down, we just continued the game with another ball.
Our next game is on Wednesday, April 11th, at 1:00 PM, at Rogers High School in front of their student body.
